Types of automotive fuses

Types of automotive fuses

Slow-blow fuse

It is suitable for devices with high starting current, such as motors. These devices draw significantly higher current during startup compared to normal operation. If ordinary fast-acting fuses are used, they may blow during the startup phase.
The windshield wiper motor, blower motor, and similar components in vehicles typically require slow-blow fuses.

Fast-blow fuse

It is primarily used in situations where rapid circuit interruption is required due to sensitivity to current changes, such as in electronic devices and lighting circuits. When an overload or short circuit occurs in the circuit, the fast-acting fuse can melt in an extremely short time, protecting the equipment from damage.
The circuitry for automotive dashboard indicators, audio systems, and similar components typically uses fast-blow fuses.
